The Wolves "Show heart" Against the Pistons

The Grand Street Campus Wolves visited the Automotive Pistons on Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 entering with a win against Secondary School for Law, Journalism, and Research. The first quarter was far from a walk in the park for the Wolves, who committed 9 turnovers and seemed tantalized by the energetic Pistons. Coach Sharpe's frustration was shown when the Wolves missed even the simplest lay-ups. Despite poor shooting they still led 28-25 at the half.
The Wolves began to find some rhythm in the third quarter; causing Piston turnovers and speeding up the pace leading one time by 7 points. Fourth Quarter. Tie Game.45-45.4:41 seconds left. Every possession had fans on their toes. Alllll Neeeettt, Wolves Joel Banton hit a 3 at the perfect time causing crowd confusion putting GSC up by 3. Enraged by a previous call, head coach of the Pistons, Will Stasiuk, received a technical foul sending Jeremy Guzman to the line. Oh how the tables turn. Crowd boo's, "Miss it" cheers, and yelling couldn't keep the Wolves from being almost perfect from their next 5 trips to the free-throw line.
Coach Sharpe had this to say at the end of the game "they executed better, they showed heart they wanted it more...for once we closed out a game". When told of Coach Sharpe's reaction and asked what made the differences between the 1st and 2nd half, Jeremy Guzman had this to say "We didn't really know what we were dealing with entering the game,we made some changes and executed".
And the Wolves sure did giving them an early Christmas gift, a 63-54 win over the Pistons. The Wolves now 5-2 will play Bushwick Campus (whom they have beaten in the pre-season) on January 4th, 2012. Automotive(2-4) will go on to play Dr.Susan S. Mckinney School of Art also on the fourth of January.

LEADING SCORER: Joel Banton- 20 points

Wolves Blow Out the Spirits

The Grand Street Campus Wolves demolished the Secondary School for Law, Journalism, and Research Spirits with a final of 70-41 on Monday, December 19th, in the Grand Street Campus Gym. Although there was a small turn out of fans the Wolves entered the game ready to win.
After a slow first quarter, the pace picked up with the Wolves opening a lead of 30 to 10 in the 2nd quarter. The third quarter turned into a shoot-out with both teams scoring consecutive three pointers. Improvements on the boards were evident with three Wolves players with 6 or more rebounds. The Spirit quickly died, a 20 point game turned into a 56-27 deficit leaving them with no chance of a comeback.
When asked about the team’s improvement Coach Sharpe replied "The rebounding was better than the last two games, there was better team play like their passing". The Secondary School of Law, Journalism, and Research Spirits (now 2-4) will go on to play the Harry Van Arsdale Cardinals (also 2-4) on December 21st. The Grand Street Campus Wolves(4-2) trailing Global Studies(6-0) and Benjamin Banneker(4-0) in the standings will visit the Automotive Pistons(2-3) on Wednesday, December 21th.
