Wolves get a W over Secondary School Spirit

The Grand Street Campus Wolves whom had come off of a beat down from the Global Studies and International Studies, looked to get a win against the 5-7 Secondary School for Law, Journalism, and Research on Monday, January 30th, 2012. Returning to the court was Ayoola Ogunwale (the Wolves starting PG) who missed two of the Wolves last games. The Wolves hit the game running taking a quick 15-3 lead to end the first quarter with well distributed scoring between the starters.
Isaiah Sylvan also gave the Wolves some spark; grabbing 6 offensive rebounds and scoring 6 points in the first half. The Spirit began to pick their game up in the second quarter getting many touches in the paint. Secondary School managed to score the same amount of points as GSC in the second quarter despite committing 10 turnovers which eight times turned into points for the Wolves. GSC took a commanding 42-18 lead over the Spirit as they came out raining threes to start the third quarter. Blocks, steals, and charges the Wolves were doing it all on the defensive end not to mention the good amount of ball movement on offense.
Then...things got a little sloppy for the Wolves who turned the ball over consecutive times to start the last quarter. The Spirit went on a little serge which amp ted the crowd but it was nothing but fool’s gold since they were still down by 13. Later things didn't seem to click on the offensive end but with a couple of charges the Wolves got their momentum back partially. Finally, Ayoola Ogunwale broke the lack of scoring cycle by taking it to the rim for two. Jeremy Guzman iced the game by hitting another three putting GSC up 62-40 with a minute to play. "We played defense and executed on offense, our ball movement was a lot better than how it was in the past three games" Coach Sharpe said after the game. The Wolves now 8-5 took care of business on the road (with a final of 64-37) after a long break putting them in great position to win their last season game against the Automotive Pistons(4-8) on Friday, February 3rd, 2012.
Ayoola Ogunwale scored 14 points and dished out 5 assist; welcome back! The Secondary School for Law, Journalism, and Research will look to perk their Spirits up against the Harry Van Arsdale Cardinals (6-6) also on the 3rd.

Leading Scorer: Jeremy Guzman 19 points
